Bridge Build in Angora Fire Area, Oct 5, 2013

The South Tahoe Association of REALTORS® is thrilled to partner with the USFS to build a bridge over a section of trail in the Angora Fire Area.  You are invited to participate!

A Volunteer Build Day is planned for this coming Saturday, October 5, 2013 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.  Volunteers will need to wear sturdy shoes, dress in long pants, long sleeve shirts and bring gloves.  The Forest Service will provide tools and hard hats.  TAMBA (Tahoe Area Mountain Biking Association) will also be joining this effort.  Volunteers will meet at the gate on Forest Mountain Road.

Please RSVP to staor@staor.org or call 530.541.7007 if you would like to join in this effort.  The USFS will need a count so that they may know how many hard hats and tools to bring, as well as for providing refreshments.

BACKGROUND:
After the Angora Fire that devestated our community in the summer of 2007, the South Tahoe Association of REALTORS® created a disaster relief fund, facilitated by the El Dorado Community Foundation, to assist our Realtor and Affiliate members who lost their homes in the fire.  We received generous donations from other Associations of Realtors across the country, as well as from individuals.  At the time that the fund was created, we were required to maintain a minimum balance of $5,000.  Due to the length of time that the fund has been held, we were able to recently convert the fund for more general charitable functions, which allowed us to spend the money remaining from the Angora Fire Disaster Relief on building a bridge over a section of trail in that area, for the use of residents and visitors alike.  STAR purchased and donated all of the materials to build the bridge, and the USFS is donating labor in terms of design and work.
