CHRISTMAS VALLEY – South Tahoe Neighborhood

~written by 2014 Communications & Public Relations Chair

Christmas Valley is the ideal name for this neighborhood.  One can envision and feel when driving through the area, seeing streets named Elf, Blitzen, and Santa Claus, the holiday spirit.  Located approximately ten to fifteen minutes from the center of South Lake Tahoe, this area truly embraces the mountain lifestyle with its peacefulness and picturesque mountain views, tall pine trees, open meadows and the Upper Truckee River.  There are numerous trails providing access to hiking, biking, cross country skiing, snowmobiling and fly fishing.

The Christmas Valley area is located south of Meyers where Hwy 50 meets Hwy 89. There are three general areas: Christmas Valley 1, Christmas Valley 2 and the U.S. Forest Service cabins that make up the overall neighborhood.  When driving from Meyers to Hope Valley, Christmas Valley 1 is located on the right side of Hwy 89 and Christmas Valley 2 is along the left.  The Rainbow Tract, Bridge Tract and South Upper Truckee summer cabins make up the third portion of the Christmas Valley and are located along South Upper Truckee Road.

Homes in these neighborhoods range in architectural build.  You can pretty much find your desired style of house from the 600 square foot small cabin to the 2900 square foot spacious new build.  The lot sizes out here are almost double what you would find within the city limits, and the views are expansive.
