Country Club Estates – South Tahoe Neighborhood
Country Club Estates
When one hears “Country Club Estates,” a picture comes to mind of a grand country club surrounded by a lush golf course with golf carts buzzing around. While this neighborhood does not encompass a country club, its close proximity to both Lake Tahoe Golf Course and Paradise Golf Course gives it the namesake. Street names reflect well know golf courses like “Pebble Beach” and “Apple Hill.” Elks Club Drive used to be the site of the original Elks Club which was torn down awhile ago. Many locals use this space as the starting point for kayaking and floating down the Upper Truckee River, which meanders through meadows and forests until it spills out into Tahoe Keys marsh and Lake Tahoe.
Whether it’s referred to as Country Club Estates or Elks Club, the neighborhood starts from where Pioneer and Hwy 50 merge, and follows both streets until they intersect at Elks Club Drive. This neighborhood winds throughout a small mountain side, so the lots are larger and mostly sloping. This allows for some amazing views of Mt Tallac as well as both Echo and Angora Ridgelines. The home construction is mostly of newer 2000’s with a few older ranch and cabin style homes scattered throughout. When combining the larger forested lots with the amazing views and newer builds, one sees a higher price point for purchasing a home in this neighborhood. Even though this neighborhood is in the county, you are only minutes from everything that South Lake has to offer.
