ANNUAL ELECTION OF STAR’S BOARD
(8/18/2016) It’s that time of year again! Do you know a fellow REALTOR® member who demonstrates leadership skills and abilities? We are looking for dedicated individuals to run for the South Tahoe Association of REALTORS®’ Board of Directors. Please consider recommending someone (or yourself!) that you feel could help guide and safeguard our organization.
This year the Nominating Committee will be tasked with finding candidates for one Director (3 year term), President-Elect, Vice President and Secretary/Treasurer.
Nomination recommendations requested for election of 2017 Board of Directors
The Election Committee has set Monday, October 31, 2016 as the date for the 2017 Election. In an effort to foster South Tahoe Association of REALTORS® member involvement in the decision making process, the Election Committee requests your input concerning the selection of nominees. In accordance with our Bylaws: “The Election Committee shall circulate a notice to all members that they may request nomination at least two weeks prior to the committee’s selection of nominees.”
“The Nominating Committee shall select at least one candidate for each office, except President, and at least one candidate for each place to be filled on the Board of Directors.”
The Board of Directors is comprised “of four (4) officers and nine (9) directors. The ninth (9th) director shall be the most immediate past President. … No more than three officers and/or directors may be elected from one firm. … In the event that an elected director or officer changes firms after an election and in so doing, increases that firm’s director/officer count to more than three (3), it is hereby established that each officer/director will be allowed to complete his/her term.”

Please note that you do not need to obtain permission from the individual that you would recommend in order to place them on this list. It will be the task of the Nominating Committee to determine if the individuals meet the requirements for office, as determined by our bylaws, and to obtain permission from potential candidates before placing them on the ballot.
All recommendations received in writing will be submitted to the Nominating Committee for review. The deadline to submit recommendations to the STAR Office is 5:00 pm, Friday, September 2nd. You may scan & email recommendations to staor@staor.org, fax them to 530.541.7011, mail them to 2307 James Ave., South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150, or drop them off at our office.
